31 Norfolk Street

31 Norfolk Street was the first building we acquired, in 2018. At the time Mark was a self-employed ceramicist and wanted somewhere to make his pots. He spotted 31 on sale and immediately fell in love with it, even though it was much bigger than what he needed. His idea was to create a pottery for himself as well as an arts education space, and to rent out the upper and lower floors to other independent businesses, which is where what came to be Marengo first began. Years later, Mark discovered 31 had in fact been home to some of his ancestors in the early 1900s - spooky!

Number 31 therefore has a very special place in our hearts and is now home to an arts charity, an international events and expos company who move dinosaurs around the world, a hair salon and a tattooist and illustrator.
